The BEST in Radio Broadcasting

With a radio career spanning 15 years, DJ Sabby cruised his way into public acclaim through his groundbreaking run on YFM’s afternoon drive with The Best Drive. Mtshali made history with The Best Drive as it became the longest running drive time show in South Africa among urban radio stations. The show racked multiple radio nominations in its 5 year run, pushing the envelope by attracting internationally acclaimed guests like David Kaluuya, Chloe x Halle & T.I onto the show.

The Best Thing Ever’s international footprint grew when he joined DJ Edu’s BBC’s radio show #ThisIsAfrica in 2019. Sabby served as a correspondent profiling futuristic African acts within the music space to #ThisIsAfrica’s audiences across 50 different countries. His international influence continues to grow through his work with #ONELOVECREW, a collaborative partnership with BBC1Xtra’s DJ Ace (UK) & Power 105’s Nyla Symonee (USA) that spotlights hip-hop and R&B music from across the world.

DJ Sabby currently hosts a programme showcasing the hottest African R&B acts every Saturday from 22H00 until midnight on BBC’s 1Xtra through the One Love Crew collaboration.

The Music & Cultural Force

DJ Sabby moved to METRO FM in 2021 as the host of their then top 40 chart show, now known as the METRO FM Top 30. Within the first 12 months of Sabby taking the reins on The Chart Show the programme grew to become the station’s top show.

His work with Metro Top 40 resulted in his first Radio Awards win in the category of Best Music Show. His profile increased in 2022 when he was entrusted in hosting The Bridge on weekdays from 9am until noon on top of his successful run with Metro’s weekend chart show.

His rise at the station continued in 2023 when Mtshali was announced as the host of Metro FM’s flagship weekday breakfast show; BEST MORNINGS. DJ Sabby’s stellar reputation and work ethic speaks for itself as he continues to cement himself as one of Africa’s great contemporary broadcasters.
